Kabul: Four men were sentenced to death today by an Afghan judge for killing a 27-year-old woman named, Farkhunda. She was accused of burning a Quran in Kabul, because of which the crowd burst in anger on the woman they beat and kicked the woman to death on March 19 and burnt her.
The four were among the mob that included 19 police officers too. An inquiry later revealed that Farkhunda was wrongly accused of desecrating Islam's holy book Quran.
As the judge read out the long list of charges and decision on Wednesday as the punishment was ongoing. The 19 policemen were accused of failing to protect the woman from the mob.
