Azam Khan needs Rs. 300 Crore for his 300 acre M. A. Johar University at Rampur.
Mumbai: Senior Samajwadi Party leader and cabinet minister of Uttar Pradesh Mohammed Azam Khan is these days busy in raising fund for his dream project Maulana Mohammed Ali Johar University.
While addressing to Muslim elites and media in Mumbai Azam Khan asked people to donate fund for M. A. Johar Urdu, Arabic and Persian University that he is establishing at his constituency Rampur, U.P.
Azam alleges that some earlier Governors of Uttar Pradesh objected him of being the Pro-Chancellor of his proposed state owned university at Rampur hence he decided to establish a private university.
Azam also said, “Congress Party particularly opposed the M. A. Johar University Bill in Vidhan Sabha. BJP also opposed but it was minimal”. Azam quoted from Sardar Patel's diary (first Home Minister of India) and declared it an old conspiracy against Muslims, "Education shouldn't come to Muslims otherwise they will become powerful".
As he is a great orator such was impact of his speech that people present in the seminar room of Islam Gymkhana began donating fund on the spot.
Maulana Mohammed Ali Johar Urdu, Arabic and Persian University, Rampur is a Rs. 300 crore project situated at the bank of Kosi river that flows all along the university for a distance of two and a half miles and forms its natural boundary.
The envisioned university comprises of a school of humanities, a school of law, a school of education, a school of engineering and technology, a school of nursing and a medical college. The total required land is 300 acres, two third of which has already been acquired.
