Team of 300 UN observers indicates that the massacre in Mazraat al-Qubeir was perpetrated by the Syrian Government.
Damascus: The United Nations team of observers that visited the site of a reported massacre in a Syrian village on Friday has reported that the government forces had been there and finds marks of slaughter in some of the houses.
The team of United Nations 300 monitors issued a statement on their visit to the Syrian hamlet of Mazraat al-Qubeir, where opposition activists say at least 78 people were massacred on Wednesday. The observers are still not able to locate the circumstances surrounding this attack. And the identity of victims is yet to be confirmed.
The monitors said that Mazraat al-Qubeir was empty of its own residents and the observers were not able to talk to any eye witness of the Wednesday’s attack. The team further added that armored-vehicle tracks were visible in the vicinity and some homes were damaged by rockets from armored vehicles, grenades and weapons ranging in caliber. Also inside some of the houses, blood was visible on the walls and floors and fire was still burning outside houses and there was a strong stench of burnt flesh.
In a recent massacre in the Houla town claimed the lives of at least 108 men, women and children. The United Nations team is finding if the massacre was perpetrated by the Syrian government.
